How Forrest Gump makers agreed to sell the rights of the film to Aamir Khan for Lal Singh Chaddha

It took reportedly over 5 years for the deal of Lal Singh Chaddha to be finalised. The makers of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump were specifically keen on roping in the actor for the role of the titular lead.

We can say with conviction that all the Aamir Khan fans, by now, know about the next movie he is going to be seen in. It is Lal Singh Chaddha, a remake of the 1994 Hollywood cult classic Forrest Gump, wherein Aamir will be seen playing the titular role.

The film was announced on the occasion of the Thugs of Hindostan actor’s 54th birthday earlier this year. As per a statement, it took over five years to finalise the film’s deal. Many filmmakers had reportedly approached the makers of the original to purchase its rights in the past.

However, Forrest Gump makers were reportedly keen on selling the rights only if Aamir Khan came on board, as they felt that only he would be able to do full justice to the quality of the movie.

Aamir reportedly met the makers of the movie and initiated the talk about the remake. “It took more than five years to finalise the deal,” a statement read. Aamir is reportedly leaving no stone unturned and developing the film to his best. 

Lal Singh Chaddha would see Kareena Kapoor Khan as Aamir’s leading lady and would be directed by Advait Chandan, who has previously helmed Secret Superstar,starring Zaira Wasim and Aamir.
