Actor Aamir Khan, who is the ambassador of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, recently opened up on the ongoing water crisis in India. The actor is also associated with an NGO named Paani Foundation.
Actor Aamir Khan recently opened up on the major water crisis that India is currently facing. The actor, who is the ambassador for Jal Shakti Abhyan is one of the Bollywood stars who are working tirelessly to draw attention to water scarcity in the country. The Jal Shaktai Abhyan is a water conservation campaign by the government.
The campaign is focused on five major aspects – water conservation and rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures, watershed development, and intensive afforestation.
In an interview with NDTV, the actor spoke about the movement and how he is trying to create awareness about the same. He said, “The mindset we use to save and spend money needs to also be applied towards saving and spending water. We should concentrate more on public transport. It is an initiative by Maharashtra government to increase facilities for the railways. Public transport will really help us.
He also added, “What is important is that PM Modi and I find common ground to work together and I think that is what is important. The need of the hour is we work on issues which all of us believe in and all of us can contribute towards in a positive way.”
Earlier, the actor spoke about the movement in a video and said, “It is important to preserve water and we all have to use the resource carefully. Not just for today, but for tomorrow as well and also for our kids”
