Aamir Khan took to Instagram and shared two ten-seconds films directed by wife Kiran Rao for Facebook’s Thumbstoppers initiative. Watch the films here.
Aamir Khan took to social media on Tuesday and shared a couple of 10-seconds short films made by his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao. Kiran, who has directed Aamir in Dhobi Ghat (2011) and has produced several other critically acclaimed films like Secret Superstar (2017), Peepli Live (2010) among others, has made these thematic films for Facebook Thumbstoppers, an initiative launched in May 2019 to redefine short-form mobile video ads in India. Kiran’s two films are on the subject of domestic violence and the importance of gender equality respectively.
The first film emphasizes the need and awareness regarding gender parity. In it, a young boy and a girl are served with milk of varying quantities, the boy has given more share than the girl. The boy, after he sees the difference in the glasses, fills his sister’s glass with some of his milk.
Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira shared an adorable post on Father’s Day for the 54-year-old actor, in which she explained what it’s like to be brought up by Aamir Khan. Ira shared a recent video of herself tickling Aamir Khan and a throwback post, which also included her elder brother Junaid, to accompany her Father’s Day note. Ira Khan wrote: “From being ridiculously over-protective to telling me I should be more rebellious… you’ve been an amazing person to have in my life. You’re always there when I need you. People always ask what it’s like to be brought up by and around you, some think it would be really cool or exciting… but that would be an understatement.”
She added: “Thanks for being such an educational, stimulating and inspirational figure in my life. I’m passive aggressive too so I may not tell you how cool I think you are but I definitely think it. And thanks for the great-skin-gene. Happy Father’s Day!”
Producer Bhushan Kumar revealed that Aamir Khan is still a part of Mogul as a co-producer. The actor had walked out of the project when Subhash Kapoor was accused of alleged sexual harassment.
Aamir Khan was supposed to play the lead role in Subhash Kapoor’s Mogul. However, last year, in the ##MeToo movement, when Subhash Kapoor was accused of alleged sexual harassment, the Taare Zameen Par actor said he won’t work with Kapoor. As reported by Indian Express, Aamir will be producing the biopic based on Gulshan Kumar.
Bhushan Kumar revealed that Aamir Khan is still on board as the co-producer of Mogul. When asked if he will be acting in the biopic, Bhushan said, “I can’t say anything about it right now. Now, I am very comfortable about it because I know the film is happening and with the best person who looks (laughs) like my father. There is no ambiguity in that. So, I am very happy about that.”
The T-Series honcho also shared that they have found the protagonist for the film. They will be announcing who the actor is in July this year. The makers want to release the film in 2021 and the film will go on floors in 2020. Well, we wonder if Aamir Khan is playing the lead role in it or not.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar was supposed to play the lead role in Mogul. However, he walked out of the film due to creative differences.
If not Aamir Khan, who do you think is apt to play late Gulshan Kumar’s role in Mogul? Tell us in the comments below.
On Aamir Khan’s birthday this year, the actor announced Laal Singh Chaddha. Even much before it’s release, the film created immense buzz owing to Aamir’s popularity. The film has got its release date and it will hit the screens on Christmas 2020.
Aamir Khan along with wife Kiran Rao celebrates his birthday with media. Aamir was asked what does he feel when #WorldsBiggestSuperstar hashtag was trending on Twitter and he also gets candid about wife Kiran Rao. Must Watch!
Decoding Aamir Khan’s stature as an actor and entertainer Amul Mohan explains,”Very few stars have the ability to bring the audience into the cinemas by the truckloads like Aamir and his track record is a testament to that. It all started a decade ago in 2008 when his movie Ghajini opened and went on to be the first 100 crore movie. After starting the 100 crore club, Aamir Khan also happens to be the one to start the 200 crore club, 300 crore club. The actor holds the record for the highest scoring Hindi film with Dangal at 370 crores which is yet untouched by anyone else.”
Actor-producer Aamir Khan, whose films are making a killing at the box-office in China, modestly claims that though he has been bestowed with the tag of ‘Worlds Biggest Superstar’, his popularity in the country is accidental.
Speaking about the tremendous love he garnered from the adjacent nation, Aamir Khan said, “My popularity in China happened by accident. Not many people know that it all started with 3 Idiots (2009), which reached Chinese homes through piracy. I guess they really related with the subject of the education system. Then they followed my work, including PK, and even the TV show Satyamev Jayate. When Dangal released in China, they already knew me and my work. Also, the reason why the films did such business in China is the sheer number of screens. In India, we have around 5,000 theatres, while in China there are 45,000. Even though there isn’t as much difference in the population of the two countries (approx. 1.35 billion in India and 1.4 billion in China). I play a cameo in Secret Superstar; even then the film was released by the exhibitors in 11,000 theatres in China. Just imagine the scale!”
Aamir Khan doesn’t make as many movies as his fellow superstar Khans, but the ones he does make, at least over the past decade, are box office magic. Nine of his last ten films have been enormous global hits. His last three—the aforementioned Dhoom 3, PK, and Dangal—have each successively redefined the very definition of what is financially possible for an Indian movie. His pictures are not just commercial successes, they’re also critical darlings, thoughtful humanistic ruminations on important social issues, that also happen to be great fun.
