The Khans, except Salman, have kept a low profile in 2019 but are expected to make heads turn with their films in 2020. This year, Aamir Khan will be coming to the theatres with Laal Singh Chaddha.
The new year has started and so has our excitement for the next set of releases scheduled for this year. While we are well aware of some of the films that we can expect like Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak or Kangana Ranaut’s Panga, when it comes to the Khans of the industry, we wonder what are they up to? While Shah Rukh Khan is currently on a break, actor Salman Khan has recently impressed us with his character Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg 3. So without wasting much time, we have listed out where you can spot your favourite Khans this year. Check out the exciting list here:
Perfectionist actor Aamir Khan had maintained a distance from the 70mm in 2019. His last release Thugs of Hindostan failed miserably at the box-office. Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj films banner, the movie also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.
But, fret not Aamir fans! For we have a treat for you all. The star will return to the big screens with Laal Singh Chaddha opposite Kareena Kapoor. The film has been produced by Kiran Rao and Aamir under Aamir Khan productions. The movie was officially announced on March 14, 2019 by Aamir on the occasion of his birthday and it went on floors in October last year.
Today, as Dhoom 3 completes 6 years in the industry, let us list down 6 reasons on why one should watch the movie and why we all loved it.
When we talk about Dhoom, fans eagerly wait for the next installment to be out. After releasing three installments of the franchise, fans are still eager to know about the fourth part. In the franchise, Uday Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan who portray the role of Ali Akbar Fateh Khan and Jai Dixit have been constant in all three parts of the movie. While Dhoom saw John Abraham as the antagonist, Dhoom 2 saw Hrithik Roshan who was later joined by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the villain and Dhoom 3 saw Aamir Khan in the negative role.
Talking about Dhoom 3, the movie was written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra. Dhoom 3 starring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra was released on 20th December 2013. The film was screened during the 2014 International Film Festival of India in the Celebrating Dance in Indian Cinema section. The movie received mixed reviews from critics and fans. Dhoom 3 grossed ₹4 billion worldwide in just ten days. Dhoom 3 was the first Indian film to be released in the IMAX motion picture film format.
Aamir Khan is gearing up to begin work on his next film – Lal Singh Chaddha which is an official Hindi adaptation of the hit Hollywood film Forrest Gump. The English film traces the journey of this dimwitted man as he witnesses some of the most iconic episodes in US history. Similarly, Aamir’s character will also be present during some of the most crucial moments in the history of the nation.
Our source tells us, “Aamir is known to delve deep into his character. He had been wanting to make Forrest Gump for quite a few years but getting the rights took some time. But now, he’s completely devoted himself to the project. He is currently getting into the proper shape to play the younger Lal Singh Chaddha. He will lose at least 12-14 kilos now because he needs to look leaner than what he did in Thugs Of Hindostan.”
On one hand, there’s Salman Khan’s Bharat which began with the India-Pakistan Partition and ended in 2010. But Lal Singh Chaddha will showcase other momentous events instead. The informer reveals, “The movie opens in the ’70s with the India-Pakistan War of 1971. Advait Chandan, the director, along with Aamir, is sitting and researching material from the time zone. They are planning it on the lines of a socio-political drama. Along with that, they will also capture the whole period when Emergency was declared in India. They also plan to show the assassination of Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi among other events. Aamir’s character will age through the years and will travel to present times. Apart from the 1971 War, a brief part of the film’s second half will be about the Kargil War.”
Actor-producer Aamir Khan, whose films are making a killing at the box-office in China, modestly claims that though he has been bestowed with the tag of ‘Worlds Biggest Superstar’, his popularity in the country is accidental.
Speaking about the tremendous love he garnered from the adjacent nation, Aamir Khan said, “My popularity in China happened by accident. Not many people know that it all started with 3 Idiots (2009), which reached Chinese homes through piracy. I guess they really related with the subject of the education system. Then they followed my work, including PK, and even the TV show Satyamev Jayate. When Dangal released in China, they already knew me and my work. Also, the reason why the films did such business in China is the sheer number of screens. In India, we have around 5,000 theatres, while in China there are 45,000. Even though there isn’t as much difference in the population of the two countries (approx. 1.35 billion in India and 1.4 billion in China). I play a cameo in Secret Superstar; even then the film was released by the exhibitors in 11,000 theatres in China. Just imagine the scale!”
